BIOGRAPHIE
Né à Paris en 1959, Philippe Guillerm a commencé à travailler dans le design dès son plus jeune âge et l’environnement local a eu une influence énorme et durable sur ses dessins lui conférant des formes contemporaines qu’il continue à utiliser aujourd’hui sur ses œuvres à deux et trois dimensions. L’artiste est allé à l’école pour l’ingénierie, en suivant la vocation de son père. Mais il a grandi entouré d’art, et son entraînement, aidant son père à fabriquer des meubles et des bateaux, l’a préparé à composer.
La famille de Philippe Guillerm est originaire de Bretagne, ou «Terre de la mer», où les gens travaillaient traditionnellement comme marins ou pêcheurs. Avec son héritage et sa vie d’été en train de naviguer derrière lui, l’adolescent Guillerm a quitté la France pour l’Espagne et le Maroc. Ses voyages ont finalement conduit à la Guyane française, où il a rencontré femme et bois, Philippe Guillerm a trouvé la beauté de chacun indéniable, et il est parti pour Tahiti deux ans plus tard en tant que mari et sculpteur. L’art et la musique sont des langues plus directes que les paroles ou écrites, et les sculptures et peintures de Philippe chantent.
